Overview

A Concept is the combination of a finished product, packaging material and a destination. It is the first blueprint of the packaging solution which is later viewed on the operator screen. To create a concept, the user needs to add the product group, packaging material group and destination details.A concept will capture the fundamental data required for a packaging solution. It will store product group, packaging material group and destination to ensure a safe and complete packaging.Multiple destinations come into play as the possibility of a product to be shipped to many places is present.Only the Manager of the PackAssist account has the privilege to create a concept whilst the Contributor can create the packaging of a released concept.

Relations
For a Concept that is in the 'In Progress' status, it is possible to define/customize the relations of the product with that of the packaging materials used. The 'Relations' Tab can be used for this. Once any part in the 'In Progress' Concept is selected, the relations tab will appear. On clicking on the parts on the top level; the 'Type' drop down field has the option 'Goes into'. On selecting this, the user defines that the product has to go into the packaging material. When clicking on the parts in the lower level this drop down will have different options like 'Adds Information', 'Add length', 'Add Width', 'Add Height.' This is especially useful when the user needs to add stickers/labels to the packaging materials. By selecting the 'Always Same' field, the selected parts assigned under the product/packaging material group will have the same relations stored. The quantity of the packaging material is set at 1 by default. But this can be changed according to requirement. There is also a separate field provided for additional remarks on the defined relations. The details has to be saved using the for the changes to be applied.

When a product group is selected, the concept is valid for all products in that group and the products in all sub groups. This makes it possible to make concepts for specific product groups with specific properties in case of really sensitive/delicate products. It also allows for a general concept by selecting the all products group. The packaging according to this concept can be used for all products if the product fit in the created packaging. After defining components and property definitions, the user can release the concept and add a packaging solution.Concepts also include a revision and a status feature is explained in detail below.
